CLS-E MKII Cut Tube Shorter?

With the yoke pushed all the way in there’s still about 15cm of tube visible. In a real Cessna this is more like a few cm. Is there any risk to removing the yoke handle and cutting the tubing shorter to make it more realistic? Why would they leave so much tubing by default?

Ah, more clearance makes sense, I guess. My panel setup is pretty simple since I fly in VR. Maybe I’ll have a look and see how easy it would be to trim it down a little. Or maybe I’ll build another mounting board to allow me to set it further back. Appreciate the reply.

I have mine mounted on extrusion rails, so I could inset the yoke so when fully forward my knuckles don’t scrape tithe desk. Even then,the yoke is mounted quite far into the desk. Not an issue though as there is nothing back there in the way, but I can see if you opted a desk edge mount it could be an issue.

That’s an interesting idea. Maybe locking rails like on a sliding car seat could be interesting, then you could adjust the position depending on the plane.

I have mine at a fixed depth, as I couldn’t think of a reason why I would ever want to pull it further forward. It is far enough in that the yoke at fully forward leaves enough room that my knuckles don’t scrape the desk. The rails act both as a way of securing the yoke to the table, but also as a carrying handle should I wish to disassemble things. Each long section has a full length strip of felt tape to protect whatever it is being clamped to. The clamps are mounted upside down otherwise they would hit my knees.

Attachments are included. Hopefully it works this time, as I have tried half a dozen times to include URL’s, and it ends up wiping my post for some reason.
