I am still struggling to isolate the exact cause of the Longitude losing altitude lock while in AP mode. Couple of examples:
– turning to a localizer intercept course at 150 kts, flaps 2, and during the turn the aircraft starts to descent (while in ALTS mode flying level at 3500 ft)
– flying down an ILS glide slope and after being established on the GS, the plane starts to descent below the GS although the AP and GS both show normal (green). So it’s a dynamic of “losing the altitude guidance” and this does not occur if I use a basic stick instead of the Brunner yoke. It also does not occur with any other aircraft, just the Longitude. But I find nobody else that is having this issue.
I am not understanding the additional fine grain settings that are available … if you could further describe how to use those, it would be appreciated.
Thanks …

28/02/2024 at 17:10 #3744kirkParticipantI will summarize a couple of important things that I have learned after a LOT of testing/usage w/ the COWS DA42.
– Other users reported (and I confirmed) that you have to set aileron and elevator axis in MSFS for the Brunner yoke (I’m using CLS-E NG).
– BUT, I learned the hard way that the additional thing that needs to be done, is to go into the CLS2SIM profile that you use for the DA42 (need a unique one as you don’t want to make this change for other aircraft in MSFS), and uncheck pitch and roll checkboxes under the AP tab. I did not take this second step initially and things were working well, UNTIL I armed HDG on the ground before takeoff on a flight, and then when in the air I armed AP and the plane went into an uncontrolled extreme turn not stopping at the HDG bug.My theory is that in the case of HDG armed on the ground, that there are conflicting controls fighting against each other, or a conflict of some form, when activating MSFS roll and pitch axis within the game. Unfortunately, unchecking the two boxes means that the yoke will not respond to the AP related pitch and roll changes … this is disappointing.
Other Brunner users have been asking about this in the COWS discord, and I have been very active about the above issue. One option is just not to arm HDG on the ground. But it’s desirable to do that because it reduces task saturation on takeoff and is a best practice.
Tell you what, I will load my DA42 Brunner profile up to the Brunner profile cloud so you can pull it down and take a look. You’ll note that I still have various other things active such as turbulence, prop effect, etc.
Hope this is of value. I hang out in the COWS discord, see you there.

16/01/2024 at 06:40 #3712kirkParticipantI too have the HF8 and it works very well with the CLS E-NG.
13/12/2023 at 16:26 #3672kirkParticipantContinued usage confirms that indeed you have also successfully addressed the issue with recognizing and dynamically switching to the active aircraft in MSFS 2020, and aligning the associated profile.
Thanks for that! I had a current biz jet pilot over to shoot circling approaches @ Aspen (terrain on all sides) and he was very complimentary of the Brunner CLSE-NG yoke. He suggested that I increase the force a bit, which I was easily able to do.
Best wishes for the Christmas and New Years holidays, to the Brunner team and user community.

12/12/2023 at 17:26 #3671kirkParticipantI have tested the software update and the Cloud upload was successful. In addition, I tested CLS2SIM with a flight (SR22T which I uploaded), and everything worked as expected.
I noticed that it switched to the correct (linked) aircraft this time. It has not been switching to the correct aircraft up to now. Did you also do something to improve the linking to MSFS loaded aircraft as well?
Thank you for providing the test software. Is there any reason that I should not continue to use this test version for the time being?

08/11/2023 at 04:47 #3624kirkParticipantSorry: Windows 11, cls2sim 5.6.0. I should have said the lags are 5-10+ seconds, vs. 10+.
Only other running applications at the time are:
SPAD.next, Edge browser, iCue (CPU cooling), TrackIR 5, Stream Deck. -
